On-site "LID" techniques can greatly reduce the amount of water that your roof contributes to our aging stormwater systems.  Thousands of gallons of rain fall on your roof each year.

The Capital Regional District is hosting a workshop on Low Impact Development (LID) rainwater management techniques November 28th, 2009. The workshop will provide participants with an overview of what homeowners can do to manage rainwater on their property.

Topics covered in the workshop include:

· Why we need to manage rainwater

· Landscaping for rainwater management

· Green roofs and living walls

· Rainwater harvesting

· Watershed management

· Local examples

· Tour of LID techniques at UVic

· Optional field trip to a local single family residence to see the techniques in action
