The newly planted Trent Street rain garden will require watering until plants are well established, after which rainwater should suffice to sustain the plantings
12th August 2009
The Trent Street rain garden is a pilot project that will help reduce and treat stormwater runoff before it enters Bowker Creek. (Trent Street is located near the Royal Jubilee Hospital). Once complete, rain water that would have entered Bowker Creek through the City’s storm drain system, will be directed into two new rain gardens planted with native trees and shrubs. This type of feature is the future of good watershed management in Bowker Creek and other watersheds in our region.

Street runoff enters through this open grate. The "first flush" of runoff carries the most pollution, but contaminants should be filtered out/broken down before water drains into Bowker Creek
